Bryan Higgins is a sculptor, ceramicist and professor of art, living and working in Oakland, CA. He currently teaches ceramics at California State University and Ohlone College.
Early on in Bryan's life, the anthropological collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institution became important influences on his artwork. The themes of transcendence, spiritual archetypes, and the honesty and beauty of traditional materials continue to be expressed in his work.
Bryan Higgins has established himself as a nationally exhibiting artist, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. His current work builds on his exploration of the vessel form - as both container of spirit and matter. Through his work, Bryan investigates the depth of human ritual, as viewed through his own experience.
